Minority Activities

Travel Awards

A grant from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund makes possible travel awards for underrepresented Minority Trainees and Junior Faculty. Each award will cover registration, housing, and reimburse up to U.S. $500.00 in airfare. Four minority trainees and one minority junior faculty will be selected to receive these awards. Eligibility and requirements are described on the Travel Fellowships page.

Minority Affairs Committee (MAC) Exhibit Booth

The MAC booth will be set up throughout the meeting in the Grand Ballroom Foyer of the Marriott. Information related to SSR activities on minority affairs will be available at the booth. The booth serves as a connection place for people interested in participating in Minority Affairs activities. The Travel Grant Awardees, members of the Minority Affairs Committee, and the Minority Affairs Symposium speaker will all be at the booth throughout the meeting.

Minority Affairs Symposium

The Minority Affairs Symposium will be held on Monday 23 July from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Trevor K. Archer, Ph.D. (NIH/NIEHS, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina) will present None But Ourselves Can Free Our Minds: Science in a Majority World. The symposium is open for all interested trainees and members. Established scientists are encouraged to meet and speak with trainees.
