Adobe Reader Documents

Adobe Acrobat

This site makes extensive use of PDF forms and documents that were created with Adobe products. To view and print these forms, you'll need to download a free version of Adobe Reader. If you already have Reader on your computer, you do not need to download it again. If you print them out from the Adobe Reader on A4 paper, you will need to select the “shrink-to-fit” option. You may also have to use this option if you print on paper that is either narrower or shorter than the original size (mostly 8-1/2"x11").

Special Events and Optional Items

In addition to the scientific program, a variety of educational special events will be available to Meeting participants.

This year’s 5K Fun Run/Walk will follow a route around scenic Mount Royal. Refreshments will be on hand. Stay tuned for further updates.

Trainee/Mentor Luncheon

Palais des congrès de Montréal (room to be confirmed).

The Trainee/Mentor Luncheon is for trainee registrants only; participation is limited to 175 trainees. The luncheon provides Trainee participants with the opportunity to talk to an SSR scientist about careers and science during a catered lunch.

Heritage Luncheon

Thursday, 25 July, 11:35 am–1:00 pm ($25 non-trainees, $10 trainees).
Palais des congrès de Montréal (room to be confirmed).

The SSR Heritage Committee is hosting a luncheon and talk honoring Professor Alfred Jost, who is recognized as the father of modern fetal endocrinology and his discovery of the Mullerian inhibitor (now known as anti-Mullerian hormone [AMH] or Mullerian-inhibiting substance). The presentation will be delivered by Dr. Nathalie Josso (Institut Paris-Sud sur les Cytokines, INSERM, Clamart, France), who was a student with Dr. Jost and participated in his pioneer work.

A special invitation is extended to Trainees to attend this luncheon at a discounted rate of $10.00.

Minority Affairs/Diversity Committee Lunch Symposium

Wednesday, 24 July, 11:30 am–1:00 pm (Free—registrants only; must indicate attendance while pre-registering).
Palais des congrès de Montréal (room to be confirmed).

This year’s symposium will feature Professor Tyrone Hayes, UC Berkeley. Dr. Hayes will discuss his work on the pesticide atrazine, one of the most common environmental contaminants, which acts as an endocrine disruptor to demasculinize and feminize male gonads. Dr. Hayes has an impressive record of giving talks to a wide variety of audiences using contemporary means, such as youtube.com and TED talks. He gave the 2010 E.E. Just Lecture at the annual meeting of the American Society for Cell Biology, where he delivered a paper on how the academy can become more supportive of minority scientists. The symposium will be linked with a luncheon, to encourage interaction and discussion between the attendees and Dr. Hayes.

Barbecue & Dance

Thursday, 25 July, 7:00 pm–12:30 am (Barbecue: $30 trainee registrants, $60 all others; Dance: open to all).
