SSR 2016 Diversity Committee-Sponsored Events

The Diversity Committee provides mentoring, resources, and communication to SSR members who self-identify as underrepresented, including those from underrepresented populations and individuals with disabilities. The committee also advocates to the Board of Directors and Society as needed and works to ensure appropriate access and representation.

Travel Awards and Fellowships for Underrepresented Trainees and Junior Faculty

Minorities shall be defined as underrepresented groups including, but not limited to, members of racial and ethnic minorities and persons with disabilities. Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of the USA or Canada to qualify for these awards.

Diversity Symposium

(open to all registered attendees)

Sunday, 17 July, 12:00–1:30 pm; Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, Harbor Island Ballroom 1.
Speaker: Marino De Leon, Ph.D. (University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle, Washington, USA). "A Multifaceted Approach to Address Health Disparities."

There is no fee to attend the symposium, but a $20 pre-purchased ticket is required for the accompanying lunch. Tickets should be purchased during pre-registration.
