Travel Grants
Larry Ewing Memorial Trainee Travel Fund (LEMTTF)
The Larry Ewing Memorial Trainee Travel Fund was established by the Society for the Study of Reproduction in honor of the late Dr. Larry Ewing, who was an ardent supporter of SSR’s commitment to trainees. The Fund is intended to provide travel assistance for Trainee Members of the Society to attend and present their research results at the Society's Annual Meeting. It is managed by the Trainee Affairs Committee, and is supported by donations, by grant monies from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver NICHD/NIH, and by the sale of commemorative t-shirts at each meeting. Any Trainee member of the Society who is presenting an abstract at the Society's Annual Meeting may request travel assistance. Funding is intended for trainees who are active in research but have limited funds. Grants are considered a reimbursement of meeting expenses. Trainees must preregister for the annual meeting before submitting an application for a travel grant.
To be a qualified applicant, you must be:
- a current trainee member of SSR (dues are paid and mentor's signature is on file in the SSR Office by 1 March 2012, the deadline for submission of abstracts), and
- the presenter of an accepted abstract at the Annual Meeting.
The application must be accompanied by a photocopy of the SSR abstract acceptance notification. Applicants are encouraged to fax applications. Applications for the LEMTTF funds must be received by 29 June 2012; please allow one week to receive confirmation of receipt before contacting the LEMTTF awards coordinator or before refaxing the application. Please send LEMTTF applications to Ayelet Ziv-Gal by email (zivgal1@illinois.edu) or fax to (217) 244-1652.
The 2012 Larry Ewing Memorial Trainee Travel Fund Application will be made available after the abstract submission deadline (1 March 2012).

Merit Awards
FASEB MARC Travel Awards
The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB), through its Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) Program, support Trainee participation in scientific meetings. Because SSR is a member of FASEB, interested and eligible individuals may apply to the FASEB MARC for funding to support travel to SSR's Annual Meeting. Applicants must be Trainee members of SSR and must be presenting a poster or making an oral presentation at the meeting. Note that the application is restricted to underrepresented trainees who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S.A. More information is available on the FASEB MARC website:
USDA NIFA AFRI Merit Awards

The name(s) of the author(s) or place(s) where the research was conducted will not be revealed to the Awards Committee during evaluations of the abstracts.
