COVER LETTER

All submissions must be accompanied by a cover letter; a text box for this purpose appears on the first screen of the online submission form. The cover letter must contain the following:

Source for animals/cells/tissues must be identified (i.e., from XYZ Company; raised on premises; obtained from Dr. M.B. Generous, Univ. of Philanthropy, City, State; from slaughterhouse, etc.).

REGISTERED OR TRADEMARK SYMBOLS

Do not include registered or trademark symbols in your manuscript.

SPECIAL CHARACTERS

Please write out special characters (e.g., Greek letters) in your title, summary sentence, abstract.

NO PMSG (Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotropin)

PMSG must be replaced with eCG (equine Chronic Gonadotropin) in the text, tables, figures, and figure legends.

GENE/PROTEIN NOMENCLATURE

Papers will not be published if correct gene/protein nomenclature is not used. Please see the Nomenclature Guide here:

If a table has only two columns (each row is only an item descriptor and a value), incorporate the data into the text and delete the table. Tables should include only essential data; please upload nonessential, but useful, information as supplemental data.

ORDER OF REFERENCES, TABLES, AND FIGURES

SUPPLEMENTAL DATA

Indicate in the cover letter if the data are for review purposes only or if the data are intended for publication with the online versions. If for review-purposes only, include text with the supplemental file indicating “for review purposes only.” If for publication, all supplemental data must be cited in the text using sequential naming (e.g., Please see Supplemental Table 1). Please include a separate header SUPPLEMENTAL DATA LEGENDS after the Figure legends, which staff will use to create the text for the online supplemental data.

SUMMARY SENTENCE

One-sentence summary of the manuscript's significance (limited to 250 characters). Do not use phrases such as “this paper demonstrates …” or “we show that …” Examples of appropriate summary statements:
