Adobe Reader Documents

Adobe Acrobat

This site makes extensive use of PDF forms and documents that were created with Adobe products. To view and print these forms, you'll need to download a free version of Adobe Reader. If you already have Reader on your computer, you do not need to download it again. If you print them out from the Adobe Reader on A4 paper, you will need to select the “shrink-to-fit” option. You may also have to use this option if you print on paper that is either narrower or shorter than the original size (mostly 8-1/2"x11").

Pregnancy

Aplin Laboratory

A biomedical research group interested in embryo implantation, placental development and pregnancy problems.

Embryo Images Online

Embryo Images Normal and Abnormal Mammalian Development is a tutorial that uses scanning electron micrographs (SEMs) as the primary resource to teach mammalian embryology. The 3-D like quality of the micrographs coupled with selected line drawings and minimal text allow relatively easy understanding of the complex morphological changes that occur in utero. Because early human embryos are not readily available and because embryogenesis is very similar across mammalian species, the majority of micrographs that are utilized in this tutorial are of mouse embryos. The remainder are human.

Basic Embryology Review Program

Pictures of human development from fertilization through birth.

Canadian Perinatal Surveillance System

Health Surveillance and Epidemiology Division at Health Canada's Population and Public Health Branch has established the Canadian Perinatal Surveillance System (CPSS). The CPSS is guided by a Steering Committee comprising expert representatives of health professional organizations, consumer and advocacy groups, and the provincial and territorial governments, as well as Canadian and international specialists in perinatal health and epidemiology. The CPSS is part of Health Canada's efforts to strengthen Canada's national health surveillance capacity.

Comparative Placentation

This volume of animal placentas was created to assist with the examination and evaluation of the many different types of mammalian placentas. It is primarily directed to the veterinary pathologist, the zoo veterinarians and others who have an interest in understanding the bewildering variety of placental forms.
